Toby Paterson… Consensus and Collapse

I was on a UK tour, stopping by Edinburgh and London in March 2010, when I chanced upon Toby Paterson’s works, which were on exhibit at the Fruit Market Gallery in Edinburgh. In his works, there is a strong sense of space which is expressed through the synergy drawn between the theme and the structural manner of expression. Particularly in his works, he is always drawn to the post-war modernist architecture, which he had expressed and conceptualized in the use of perspex and paint… This inspired me on how architecture can be re-represented and how the visual communication of space can be re-materialized in visual arts.
